Artist Statement
Art was my early aspiration and later my escape from the rather hectic world of information technology that was my previous career. I consider myself an abstract artist but occasionally something whimsical or vaguely recognizable emerges.
When I’m in my studio I’m usually working on several pieces at the same time. I’m too impatient to wait for paint or dye to dry so I rotate pieces so that I’m constantly working. That impatience is another reason why I also work with digital media where there’s nothing that delays the gratification of creating. The world of digital art has also given me the opportunity to mesh my years of computer experience with my artistic adventures which can lead to some very exciting revelations.
I love working with color, texture, lines and shapes, shifting between the very serious extreme order of confined geometric shapes and the light hearted, dreamy chaos of undefined spaces. I’m fascinated with patterns and use them extensively in my work.
I invite you on an adventure to find your own vision and stories within my work.
